Automatic transfer switch installation puts in the component that makes a standby generator actually automatic – detecting when utility power fails, disconnecting from the grid, and switching your home or business over to generator power without anyone needing to flip a switch manually.
We install these for Gresham, OR properties getting a new standby generator system, and also for homeowners upgrading from a manual transfer switch or portable generator setup who want the convenience and safety of automatic switching, especially for anyone who travels or isn't always home when outages happen.
We size the transfer switch to match your generator capacity and the circuits it needs to manage, whether that's a subset of essential circuits or your full electrical panel. Installation involves wiring the switch between your utility connection, generator, and panel, so it can safely isolate your home from the grid during an outage – critical for utility worker safety as well as your equipment. We test the full sequence, simulating a power outage to confirm the switch detects the failure, starts the generator, and transfers power correctly before considering the job complete.
Cost depends on the transfer switch capacity needed and the complexity of the electrical work involved.
